Incest and Deliverance
Incest and deliverance Another form of shame and abomination forbidden by God is the practice of incest. Incest is sexual intercourse and sexual perversion between family members too closely related for marriage, such as grandfathers, fathers, brothers, grandchildren, first cousins, mothers and sisters (Gen. 18:9). This also includes stepfathers, stepmothers, stepchildren, in-laws, etc. as explained in Lev. 18:6-18.When man gets away from God, all kinds of fornication and immoral practices will be done. Because of ignorance of the scriptures parents cannot teach their children to protect themselves because of their own lack of knowledge. When children are growing up they learn by examples from their parents or elders. The sense of security that is provided by the parents is a reassurance and a necessity for maturing, healthy children. When family members break trust through sexual abuse, a child’s sense of security is broken. A door is opened for spirits of guilt, lust, lying, and hiding to come in. When the abuser threatens them to silence, they innocently become an accomplice and a cooperator with the abuser. Their normal childish innocence is destroyed and they become nervous and insecure. They often can't sleep and are carrying a load that is too heavy for a child to carry. I recall a young woman who was sharing how she was abused sexually at the age of ten by her older brother. She would awaken in the night frightened by a presence in her bedroom. She became very anxious, terrorized and paralyzed by fear until she had an emotional breakdown. Her mother could not understand the cause of her sickness and brought her to numerous doctors. They could not find anything wrong with her. She grew up emotionally and physically unstable. Later on in life when she got married, the nightly fears continued and she was unable to have a normal sexual relationship with her husband. After five years of marriage she was still reliving the traumatizing event that happened to her at the age of ten. Much to the astonishment of her husband, the fear of her abuser returning during the night caused her to sometimes push a big dresser in front of her bedroom door. She was living in mental torment and guilt daily. This torment had arrested her development and she was acting like a little girl. But after she came for help she was completely set free from this bondage and started to mature mentally. Incest is one of the most hidden transgressions of our society. When one is being sexually abused, a door of silence is closed and the victim acts as if they are the guilty one. As a child they take on a responsibility they can't carry and their system breaks down under this abnormal pressure. Others have testified that a door of lust had been opened and they were attracted to others who were bound by the same lust. Often the sexual abuse got worse. We see that this is not new to our time or generation. Examples of this are seen early on in the Old Testament with the account of Lot and his two daughters in Gen. 20:11-36, and later, Amnon and Tamar in II Samuel 13:8, 11-14, and Herod and Herodias in Matt. 14:3-4. These examples show the shameful history and how they were cursed. Parents must teach their children there is good touching and there is bad touching. Children must be taught that they have the right to say no to any contact that they feel is not right such as fondling, masturbation, oral sex, intercourse and anal sex. Many times the abuser will threaten the child and say that this is their secret and not to tell anyone. Teach your children to never be afraid to come to you when there is something bothering them. Tell them you are there to protect and defend them and do not make the mistake of disbelieving them. Take the time to investigate so that there can be no doubt that it happened. Since before the fall of man Satan's motive was to steal, kill and destroy. And the one he wants to destroy most of all is the innocent defenseless victim, your child. But you can be set free from the enemy’s attack. You can also have freedom from this terrible bondage of incest in the name of Jesus Christ through deliverance. God can free his people by whatever means He chooses. Jesus Christ is not limited. Ask Him and He will answer the way He sees fit and all He asks of us is to do our best. Praise God you can reclaim your self-esteem and be free. Alleluia!
