Conquering Hunger with "Breakfast Bars"


That rumbling, growling sound coming from my stomach can only mean one thing: I’m hungry. We’ve all felt that feeling, but what we choose to do to satisfy it differs from person to person. Some eat a quick snack, like a donut. Others feel compelled to go to the nearest fast food drive-thru and nosh on something they may later regret. Everyone looks for a quick fix to keep the tummy happy, but they’re setting themselves up for disappointment by eating unhealthy choices when they look to curb hunger cravings.

Stomachs rumble throughout the day, even when we’re not hungry. It’s actually a symphony of our stomach and our intestines, turning and churning, as our body’s digest food. It does seem to get louder and more pronounced when we’re hungry, as there’s nothing waiting in the wings to be digested. Eating a high sugar or high fat food item to mute the sounds is actually not ideal. Instead, choices that include foods that are rich in fiber or carbs should be considered. Sure, we want the growling to stop and we want it to stop now, but a little careful preparation, you shouldn’t have to sacrifice putting junk into your body to silence your rumbling gut.

With a million thoughts running through my mind every day (I have to start planning for my child's college education! Have to put in more hours at work! Need to clean the house for the in-laws!) you may be asking yourself: “When do I have time to eat?” My advice to you? Keep plenty of granola and breakfast bars on hand. 

We’ve known for a long time breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but unfortunately, it’s also typically the most rushed.  Snack manufacturers understand the need for something fast and easy.
