The Cancer Diet

Synopsis:  This article supports the proposition that our bodies are "designed" to eat raw vegetables.  Eating cooked vegetable and meat causes disease, and reverting to a raw vegetable diet provides our bodies the resources necessary to heal from degenerative disease.

Regardless of our particular belief concerning origins, we can all agree that our bodies have a design. An anthropologist would tell us that our bodies are "designed" to be herbivorous. Our mouths are designed to chew. Only herbivores can do that. the mouth structure of a carnivore is designed to tear and swallow chunks of raw meat without chewing. They can't move their jaws sideways. 

    Meat eating animals also have short "hot" digestive tracts which are designed to quickly process raw meat. Vegetable eating animals have long and slow digestive tracts. If a human were the size of a horse, their intestines would be longer than a horses intestines (from the video, "Diet For All Reasons, by Dr. Klaper. MD. If you are interested, you may get a copy by going to: drday.com).  Humans chose to eat foods that they are not designed to eat. Social and advertising pressures and acquired tastes have left the civilized human race in a condition where they entirely accept the un natural diet as ordinary and proper.

    We know that cooking destroys the enzymes that are required for health. We also understand that meat is not a part of the designed diet for humans. This is an extreme concept for nearly everyone. We have grown up on hamburgers and fried chicken.  Now, to have someone tell us that we have been wrong all of out life is a difficult proposition to accept. Social affairs are eating events. Holidays and birthdays, ball games and business lunches are all eating events with the usual bill of fare of meats, cooked vegetables and pastries and sometimes a tiny salad on the side. The "food pyramid" that we have often seen with its suggested daily allowances of milk and meat is wrong! It is designed to promote commercial interests.

    We love dairy products. Ice cream is a national favorite. We use it for rewarding ourselves when we feel as if we deserve a treat. Actually, cows milk is designed for calves. It has no proper place in the human diet, even for weaned children, surprised? I know that there is a lot of argument over this, but the verdict is in. Cow's milk is not fit for humans. Still, the advertising pressure remains to convince us otherwise. It is part of the "SAD" (Standard American Diet) which is designed by business interests and not health interests.

    The simple fact is that our diet sets us up for disease and correcting our diet can reverse the process and bring relief from our diseases. The designed diet is vegan, consisting of raw fruits, nuts, and vegetables. Many suggest that it is best to work into the diet slowly by reducing the frequency and portion size of the unhealthy foods and increase the healthy foods. Believe it or not, as you change your diet you will grow to prefer it. It is suggested that the process should take place over a period of two years or so. There is no value in making such a drastic change that you can't stay with it. The exception to this is in the case of severe disease, especially if you have been given but a short time to live, this calls for an immediate and drastic change.

    It is best to make this kind of extreme dietary change under the supervision of a nutritionist. You can do it on your own, but you will likely need some moral support as your family and friends may think that you have lost your reason, especially if you live in a family situation with hungry children and a "meat and potatoes" spouse If you also happen to be the cook for the family, you have a severe challenge. It is best if you carefully consider such a plan before hand a make careful preparations. Find the resources that you need, including moral support. You must be in charge of your program. You can't afford to be influenced by unsympathetic and influential people in your life. Be thoroughly convinced of your decision before you start.

    I am the cook in our house. My wife is on a different restricted diet, so I prepare three different kinds of meals when we are all home. I try to have foods in common, but there are always exceptions and variations. Holidays are difficult. I remember the advice that I was given by a dietitian. She said that it is what you eat all the time that is important. An occasional digression doesn't help, but it has minimal influence on your health.

    The question always comes up, "Where do you get your protein?" The answer is: "The same place that the cow gets it". The leanest meat is half fat. It's in the muscle. Some vegetables are nearly half protein. Some agencies promote the eating of one serving of white fish every week for the protein and omega-3 acid.

    If you start on a raw food diet, you will immediately be hit by cravings for the foods you have become accustomed to eating. This is truly an addiction and you will suffer withdrawal symptoms. You won't be able to go to sleep because of the craving for cooked comfort foods. You will crave your customary snacks. This is not easy. However, if you can stick with it for a week or so, the cravings will dissipate and you will be free to enjoy a whole new healthy life, better than you could have hoped for. You will feel better and look better. People will comment on how good you look. You will sleep better and have more energy. You will automatically adjust your weight to normal without trying. You will awake in the morning feeling refreshed. Digestion problems will usually correct themselves.

    In the words of a friend who beat hopeless cancer in just three weeks with this kind of diet, "I would never go back to my old way of eating. Why would I ever want to feel like that again?"

    The diet consists, of course, of nutritious salads and juices. The general recommendation is a deviation from a strictly raw diet and has 80% raw foods and 20% cooked foods such as baked potatoes and whole grain breads. However, there are many who advocate a strictly raw diet and they have great success to prove the validity of their belief.

    If you are thinking of iceberg lettuce and a slice of tomato on a six inch plate, you will be dismayed, of course. I make huge salads, filling a dinner plate. I include all kinds of raw foods such as dried fruit, nuts, and dark leafy greens. There are no rules and no limits. Carrot juice is an excellent part of your diet. I try to drink the juice of 25 pounds of carrots every week, but I don't often succeed because my business has me away from home a lot. Yes I still work and enjoy it at 81. Generally, I feel better than I did 40 years ago.

    Conventional medicine does not believe that diet has anything to do with cancer treatment, except that some doctors recognize the roll that sugar plays in feeding cancer. Your doctor will likely scoff at the idea that diet can do anything beneficial for treating cancer.

    Remember, you are the boss. You can fire your doctor, right? If you have a difficult time with your doctor, you can find another doctor who is, at least, tolerant. Sometimes you can find a doctor who will say, "Off the record, I hope that it works for you!".

    I had a doctor say to me, "If you want to play doctor, you are dismissed".  I also had a doctor who said that he was for whatever works. Six years ago, I tried to talk to my oncologist about alternatives and he turned red in the face, shook his fists at the ceiling and shouted, "I am keeping you well!"  What was his "therapy"? Periodic CT scans!

    Don't get trapped into a continuing relationship with a doctor who is not supportive of your legitimate efforts. You have the legal right and moral duty to do well for your own sake and for the sake of those whom you serve.

    It is usually difficult to find a good nutritionist. Chiropractors or other alternative health providers are often also nutritionists. A nutritionist is your best friend in overcoming cancer.
